WE ARE SHETOPIA

Shetopia is a project by and for young people who want to fight for gender equality. By being critical, anti-racist, inclusive, and social, we dream of a gender-equal future without any form of gender-specific and intersectional discrimination. We want to achieve that through raising awareness, spreading information, and education.

NEWSLETTER

To make this possible, we have started a bi-monthly newsletter, in which women, inter, non-binary, agender and trans people from all over the world find a platform where they can share their opinions, experiences and perspectives on feminist topics. This is meant to inform about the different issues women and queer people deal with in various parts of the world and to create an international solidarity amongst them.

The newsletter is published in English and German.

LAST ISSUE: FEMINISTS FOR FUTURE - CLIMATE CHANGE FROM A FEMINIST PERSPECTIVE

April 2022

In this newsletter, we want to explore the two struggles of feminism and climate change are connected, what links them. We also want to draw attention to how serious the climate crisis actually is, but at the same time we want to give hope by presenting great activists and great projects. We will show you that there are people who are actively doing something against the climate crisis, and that it is not too late for us to do so, too.

PODCAST

Why should we all be feminists? This podcast will try to answer that and many other questions surrounding feminism. Feminism is a topic that not only affects women, but society as a whole. That is why on this podcast we would like to try to draw attention to everyday problems. We will also be sharing our own experiences in order to make feminism understandable and accessible for everyone.

In the German as well as the English episodes, Alex, Daria, Luise and Paula will give an introduction to this multifaceted topic of feminism.

So every first Friday of the month you can listen to what we from Shetopia have to say  – on all the platforms where you can find podcasts.

EPISODE 2: GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GIRLS TALK ABOUT STRUCTURAL AND EVERYDAY SEXISM

In the second episode Paula, Alex and Daria talk about sexism. How can and does sexism manifest itself? Simply put, it can do that on two levels: the structural/institutional level vs. the everyday level. So what are these two levels? How are they different from each other? What are some examples of the two big sexism chunks? More importantly, what do car security, heart attacks and mental disorders have to do with feminism?

OUR OTHER WORK

CAMPAIGNS

We raised awareness on sexual harassment by spreading the #damelamano campaign in Berlin and online through giving out pamphlets and bracelets and educating people on the street or on the in the internet. Furthermore we created our own Social Media campaign to inform about the dramatic increase in domestic violence during the first lockdown of the worldwide pandemic, called #stillthere

SUPPORT CIRCLES

We frequently organise support circles, for FINTA (female, intersex, non-binary, trans- and agender people) in which we create a safe space, wherein personal topics are discussed, and experiences are shared. In this safe space, we give the opportunity to feel empowered and feel feminist solidarity.

We also organise mixed circles, in which all genders are welcome. Again we create a safe space to discuss and exchange our opinions and experiences on important topics and personal stories. Our goal with this is to start the conversation between the genders.
